The Euro-Mediterranean Network for the Humanization of Medicine (HUMMED) was founded in 2009 in Turin with the aim of bringing medicine backto its primary, humanistic and holistic vocation.Capturing a widespread need that has long emerged in the Western world,the Euro-Mediterranean Network for the Humanization of Medicine uniteshospitals, universities, health protection bodies, and independent members(researchers, anthropologists, artists, architects, economists, philosophers)from Europe and from the Mediterranean basin, with the common aim ofreintroducing the arts, philosophy and spirituality into the context of anincreasingly technological and bureaucratized medicine.The Euro-Mediterranean HUM MED Network supports and encouragesactions for the humanization of healthcare, designs and implements traininginterventions for health professionals, develops support programs for activeparticipation processes for the improvement of psychophysical well-beingand quality of life aimed at to European citizens.
